How do you say ‘eleven’?

As a New Zealander, I’ve had my fair share of people making fun of my accent (and flat out not being able to understand it – but that’s mostly Americans), and I have occasionally had some issues with voice recognition software, especially when the vast majority of software is optimised for American accents.

I just watched a hilarious video with two Scottish guys trying to get a voice recognition lift (elevator) to take them where they want to go. I’m pretty sure that with the number of short ‘e’ sounds in ‘eleven’, most Kiwis would have the same problem.
